Our Mission

Our mission is to support equality, promote understanding, and empower individuals of all backgrounds within the LGBTQ+ spectrum, together. Through the creation of community connections and socialization, Chatham Pride is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming Chatham County that celebrates diversity in sexual orientation, gender identity, and self-expression.

  • Yes, Chatham Pride is a nonprofit organization. We are incorporated through the state of North Carolina and recognized as a 501c3 by the Internal Revenue Service. All donations made to our organization are tax deductible.

  • Nope. Our organization has a strong focus on inclusion. While our primary focus is to support and empower individuals within the LGBTQ+ spectrum, our mission and vision extend to fostering understanding, acceptance, and support among all community members. We believe that creating an inclusive and affirming environment involves the participation and cooperation of everyone in Chatham County. Our events, programs, and initiatives are open to allies, family members, friends, and anyone who supports our goals of promoting equality, understanding, and diversity. By engaging the broader community, we aim to build a more inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or background.

  • Chatham Pride serves the entirety of Chatham County, not just Pittsboro. By organizing events, providing resources, and building partnerships, we strive to reach and support individuals and communities in all areas of the county, ensuring that everyone has access to the support and resources they need to live authentically and free from oppression and discrimination.

  • Chatham Pride is a separate nonprofit. While we participate in PBO Pride, the event is independently organized by a separate entity. We are thrilled to collaborate!

  • Currently, Chatham Pride is privately funded. As we grow, we see ourselves reaching out to the community for support. In addition, we will be seeking alternative sources of funding that align with the goals of our organization.

  • Yes! Whether you receive our monthly newsletter, participate in our steering committee or join a subcommittee, there is room for everyone. Support comes in many different forms. We would love for you to join us on this journey in any way that fits your life
